VSA Engineers (Pty) Ltd, formerly Van Straten Associates Consulting Engineers CC trading as VSA Engineers was established in 1997 by John van Straten, the owner member of VSA Engineers and former director of African Consulting Engineers Inc (ACE) now Arcus Gibb (Pty) Ltd.
VSA Engineers specializes in Consulting Traffic, Transportation, Structural, Civil and Building Engineering Services. These services include the planning and design, construction and project management and Building of a wide range of infrastructure in the transportation and Industrial fields. The company operates from its well-equipped offices in the Alberton CBD from where it serves clients throughout South-Africa. MISSION STATEMENTThe mission of VSA Engineers is to utilize its expertise optimally in the development and enhancement of the living environment of industrials, groups and communities throughout South Africa. OBJECTIVESThe objectives of VSA Engineers are :
- To provide a wide spectrum of engineering services to its clients, this from the needs identification and assessment phase, through to implementation and maintenance.
- To provide these services and execute projects at exceptionally high standards, this to promote confidence and long-term relationships with clients.
- To assist its clients at management level and support their institutional capacity.
- To support employment creation and the transfer of knowledge and skills to local communities.
- To implement an affirmative action policy that is designed to ensure equality of opportunities through the recruitment, selection, training and promotion of competent black people and women.
- To keep in step with the latest technology and propose creative, problem orientated solutions.
SERVICES PROVIDED AND EXPERIENCEVSA Engineers provides consulting engineering services in the following fields.
- Structural Engineering – Structural Steel and Reinforced Concrete.
- Transportation planning in urban areas.
- Traffic engineering and road safety.
- Geometric design of transportation infrastructure.
- Project management (project development, construction tenders, administration and construction monitoring).
- Municipal Engineering – Services in residential and other townships.
A full complement of qualified and experienced staff is available to render services in the abovementioned fields. Projects completed by the firm is listed in the CV of Mr John van Straten (Owner-Member) as attached in Annexure A. Experience in the field of Public Transport and specifically Minibus-Taxi Industry is attached in Annexure B.

PROJECT ASSOCIATES AND SPECIALIST CONSULTANTS VSA Engineers uses inter alia the services of the following firms as co-consultants and sub-consultants in the indicated specialist fields:
- Dr. Herman Joubert of TECH IQ for Traffic Engineering.
- Mr. Gerhard Minnaar of Nyeleti Consulting for Civil Engineering.
- Mr. Carlos Borges of Borges Concepts for Architecture and Building Plans.
- Mr. Francois du Plooy for Town Panning and Development.
- Mr. GP Greeff of GP Greeff and Associates for Urban Design.
- Dr. Willem Sprong of Sprong Consulting for Electrical Engineering.
A network of consultants in their disciplines are used as appropriate.

Although VSA Engineers can be classified as a small/medium enterprise in terms of business practice, we believe that we have in the past, present and can in the future (DV) add substantial value to projects.
